Green Building
A M Yoder & Co., Inc. is currently the only Valley home builder to achieve triple green building certification, proving their commitment to sustainability is more than just a marketing tool. Green building is who we are. While other builders may offer optional energy saving products, the only way to guarantee a truly green built home is to hire a green certified builder.
The three programs of certification we've earned are:
EarthCraft House
EarthCraft House Virginia is a voluntary, point based, third party verified green building program that emphasises sustainability throughout the whole project, from design to occupancy. To become certified, a builder must register for the program, complete required coursework, and build an EarthCraft House home that meets program requirements.
EarthCraft House is a regional program, custom tailored to the unique environment of the Southeast US.
1091 James Place is our first EarthCraft House certified home.
NAHB Green
The National Association of Homebuilders green building program is also a voluntary, point based, third party verified green building program that emphasises the whole house approach. A national program, NAHB Green is intended to provide certification in areas that do not offer a regional program like EarthCraft House. NAHB Green certification allows A M Yoder & Co., Inc. to provide documented, certified homes in areas where EarthCraft or similar programs are not yet available.
ENERGY STAR for New Homes
ENERGY STAR for New Homes is the US Government's voluntary builder program. Being an ENERGY STAR Partner gives A M Yoder & Co. unparalleled access to continually updated educational information, tax incentive updates, and other green building information. ENERGY STAR for New Homes offers a certification program for the systems and appliances of new homes, which is a required component of the EarthCraft House program. All EarthCraft House certified homes are also ENERGY STAR for New Homes certified.
